Chasing the whale hunters

GreenpeaceWorld condemnation of Japan’s whaling has stepped up this season, with Australia now sending its own patrol boats out to stop the Japanese doing anything illegal, and Japan being forced to back down on catching Humpback Whales.

Greenpeace is of course, as always, chasing the whalers, and confronted one ship, the Nisshin Maru a few days ago.

What do you think about whaling? Is it ever acceptable, or should there be a 100% ban? I agree with the latter, but feel free to leave your comments below.

  1. Whales have a value both alive and dead. They should be managed by people. Sometimes that means they can be harvested. Unfortunately the medium probably makes census taking difficult and I’d rather error on the side of long term protection.
